What is Project Management (PM)?

Project management is an interdisciplinary process using a set of best practices to introduce change to an organization through temporary endeavors focused on creating a unique or updated product, service, or result that adds value to an organization and supports its strategic mission. Project management is a framework for delivering value using industry-neutral and tailorable processes, tools, and techniques. Applying project management processes and techniques help organizations deliver strategic value effectively and efficiently.

The PM course I teach at my current university is based on the latest standards for project management. Students learn about the concepts, processes, and basic approaches to managing projects in their respective disciplines and explore career opportunities in project management across multiple disciplines.
